The Masonry buildings are of the world's oldest buildings. Most of the historical buildings, schools and mosques are made of bricks. Beautiful view, low cost and time of constructions are the reasons for the popularity of these buildings. However, unreinforced masonry buildings are vulnerable. So for preservation of life and wealth of people and historical buildings, masonry structures need to be reinforced. Among various kinds of rehabilitation methods, using the Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) strips is an effective retrofitting method due to its light weight, high strength and low labor requirement. Among the analytical methods, numerical analysis is more valuable than the laboratory analysis. Because it saves time and costs and facilitate the parametric analysis. Therefore, in this paper, the validation of the wall, in both unreinforced and reinforced by GFRP strips in tension side of the wall, in ABAQUS under explicit dynamical analysis, is verified. Then 5 walls with different types of arrangements of FRP strips, 4 walls with different mortar Coefficients have been modeled. At the end, the results showed that, by using GFRP strips as a reinforcing method; resistance, ductility and energy dissipation, increased to 3.5, 1.5 and 20 times than the unreinforced wall. Also for an equal volume of FRP, increasing the width, improves the behavior about 10 % compared to increasing the thickness of FRP.
