The purpose of studying the behavior of soils, calculate their deformability in environmental conditions and loading. In sands, according to the particle structure, the effects of interaction between particles in each loading increment can be simulated by assuming the spring behavior for the particle set. This method makes it possible to define a general nonlinear behavior for sands that is the basis of this research. Based on this, a kind of the norm in the conduct of undrained sands in different void ratios and relative densities is obtained in monotonic loading, which defines a simple and appropriate analytical model for predicting their behavior. This analysis can investigate hardening and softening behaviors.
Using the created norm, a simple, three-factor function called the power function fits this connection. Its computational effects, together with the defined numerical relationship on the laboratory pore water pressure, simulate the nonlinear behavior of saturated sand under undrained conditions and monotonic loading. The numerical coefficients of recent functions are determined and calibrated from the experiments performed on various sand samples such as Toyoura, Fraser, Fuji, or any other sand.
