Iran is one of the earthquake-prone countries, which has repeatedly suffered significant losses and damages caused by earthquakes. One of the most numerous structural systems in the country is building materials buildings, which are among the most vulnerable structural systems against earthquakes. One of the reasons for this vulnerability of buildings with building materials is their heavy weight, low resistance and malleability. One of the solutions to reduce the vulnerability of these buildings is the seismic improvement of these buildings, which costs less than the construction of new buildings. In this study, the behavior of a sample of masonry walls is evaluated using reciprocating static tests along the inner plane. 4 tests have been performed on 4 samples. 2 control samples and 2 other samples were reinforced using steel and neoprene cables. The investigated variables include the presence or absence of overhead on the wall, and the improvement pattern based on the damage mode of the corresponding witness walls. The results show that adding the proposed improvement system can create centripetal properties in walls with sliding-shear failure mode, but it does not have much effect on the force capacity of the wall. In the case of walls with bending failure mode (rocking motion), adding the proposed strengthening system causes a significant increase in the force capacity and also changes the failure mode from bending to sliding-shear, which in this way leads to an increase in The consumed energy is also cyclical in loading.
