Nowadays, damage detection is a one of subjects which scientists pay special attention. Structural damage may occur due to various reasons. Accordingly, various methods have been proposed for damage detection in structures. Conventional methods to estimate the extent and location of failure using natural frequencies of the structure are very difficult and contain high error level. The purpose of this study is to detect the damage and its extent using three natural frequencies in a deep cantilever beam. Cantilever beams are examined in three length-to-depth ratios of 5, 9 and 3. FEM and MOGA are used to solve the problem and optimize the obtained responses, respectively. The optimization process consists of four separate functions and FE solution which is updated during each step. To verify the accuracy of the results, in this paper, an experimental case and the proposed method are compared. The extent and location of the damage obtained from the method proposed contained high accuracy in all the cases.
